Ingredients

For the marinade:

  • 1 chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Spanglish Asadero Garlic Salt seasoning
  • 1 egg

For the coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons Spanglish Asadero Garlic Salt seasoning

Other:

  • Oil for frying
  • Dressing of your choice (for serving)

Garlic Salt

Directions
  1. Prepare the marinade:
    In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, salt, Spanglish Asadero Garlic Salt seasoning, and egg. Mix well.
  2. Marinate the chicken:
    Add the chicken strips to the mixture, making sure they are fully coated. Let them marinate for about 1 hour.
  3. Prepare the coating:
    In another bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and Spanglish Asadero Garlic Salt seasoning.
  4. Coat the chicken:
    After marinating, remove the chicken from the liquid mixture and coat it in the flour mixture. Shake off excess flour, dip it back into the marinade, then coat again in the flour mixture for extra crispiness.
  5. Fry the chicken:
    Heat oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Fry the chicken strips for about 10 minutes on each side, making sure they don’t burn.
  6. Drain and serve:
    Remove the chicken and place it on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Enjoy:
    Serve with your favorite dipping sauce
